My first blip was in March 2011 but I didn't really get the blip bug until the pandemic put us in lockdown and I decided I wanted a way to document the time. Although I didn't start until seven months in, I wanted the challenge of trying and come up with something every day. My first of the streak was of something local to me which is nice to look back on; I am not sure if we'll want to remember the #covidsigns in years to come.
My blip streak was helped by the fact that, around the same time, I started to go for a daily walk before I began work each day. I needed something to replace my pre-pandemic commute walk and it provided an interesting take as I documented things I saw #OnMyMorningWalk.
Even though life looks more like it did pre-March 2020 (my 300th blip was after I'd been into the office) I'm still looking for something the represents each day. I achieved entry 365 on 5th February 2022 even though it does not represent a continuous year of blipping. I continue to work on a proper streak.
I am luckily enough to be able to split my time between London and the Isle of Wight which is why, increasingly, there is a curious mix of seaside and urban photographs.
One of the interesting side effects of trying to come up with an original picture each day is that I, unwittingly at first, started to gather photographs of things around my house. It seems that I am slowly making an inventory of the stuff that I own. I wonder what this will look like in a few years?
