Prickly thing.

Before joining blipfoto I would never have dreamt of trying to take an interesting photo of a plant. I just wouldn't have seen the point. Since joining, all that has changed. I'm now actively seeking out unusual, attractive objects in my environment, trying to look at them from a different angle, hoping to capture an appealing shot ( on my all singing, all dancing iPod touch!!!).

I'm really grateful to blipfoto for helping me tap into my creativity. I've been trying to for years, bought books on the subject even, but to no avail. There is definitely a frustrated inner artist in there somewhere.

What I know about myself is that, in terms of creativity, an audience is of paramount importance! I just love the part when you show people what you've done and get some feedback. I trained as a musician but, to stay motivated, I always needed a concert, exam or competition to take part in. Blipfoto is the platform I needed! Already, after a week, I can see myself in the future seeking out a photography class so as to keep up with all the great photographers here.

I took this picture in the garden of two of my students. I teach a group of 5 kids, 4 afternoons a week and we rotate who's house the lessons are at on a weekly basis. It keeps things fresh. The other week we were learning about haiku poems, so, in honour of the cacti, here is one!

My, you're so prickly
Do you really have to be
Quite so defensive!
