We Did It!!!
The look on all three faces was priceless -- as if to say "We did it!" The cellphone capturing the moment in front of me added to the delight!
Today Amanda married the man of her dreams: Brandon. The wedding was lovely and I actually caught the moment they kissed, but this "We did it!" moment happens seldom at a wedding.
When we were told months ago that it was going to be an outdoor wedding, everyone wondered if the weather would cooperate and it did. The past two days the temperatures have been in the 80s. Today was a little cooler and by the time the 4:30 wedding started, the breeze was a bit chilly, but the magic in the air warmed the entire event.
Thankfully the reception dinner was in a lovely banquet hall just on the other side of the facility and the food was delicious; the DJ kept the place moving and there wasn't a dull moment. Once the bridal party arrived (after takings photos), the first dance happened with all the invited guests surrounding the dance floor and blowing bubbles . . . that was a beautiful moment.
Then dinner and immediately following the meal several seasoned couples were one at a time invited to come to the dance floor to display to the new couple how to kiss romantically; then the newlyweds had to imitate the kiss. The emotional moment came when the bride danced with her dad and then the groom with his mom. Sigh.
We've known Amanda since she was a youngster. For years we have gone to the same church with her grandparents, Joe & Sue, and they are our good friends. After raising 4 children, Joe & Sue raised Amanda and her older brother and older sister when their parents divorced and were not able to raise the three kids.
We know that today was a heartwarming experience for Joe & Sue. It was emotional of all of us to watch Joe walk his grand-daughter down the aisle and give her away.
Good night from Southern California.
