Thistle Down

By Ethel

It's The Weather

O, if it's the weather,
You'd like to be knowing.
And if in the sky,
Some dark cloud is showing.
Then sure...it is snow.

If there's shades of pink,
That rise in the morning.
Then sailor beware,
You'd better take warning.
For it will be rain.

If ruffly-white rifts,
To the north-lands go sailing.
And clouds are all feathered,
In soft-tones are trailing.
Then it will be wind.

If the air is all heavy,
And soft mists are cooling.
If clouds are all mixed,
And in gasps...they are drooling.
Then you will see fog.

If the soft-tints of summer,
On the skyline is showing.
And the crags of tall mountains,
With blue-sky is glowing.
Then it will be sun.

Or if it's the weather,
You'd like to be knowing.
And the rainbow above,
That is all out for showing.
Know this...

The tongue that never tries,
Can never tell lies.
And,
The hue and the blue...
Can make it all true.
