Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Rain Arrives

The rain came lightly mid-afternoon and has continued on into the evening, and is now pouring. So earlier as I walked the dogs around the backyard, I tried to capture the drops landing on the pool's surface. The photos of yellow rose buds and the pompoms on the bottle brush bush are better, but they'll be here tomorrow and who knows if the rain will be.

Now at 7:45 p.m. the weather service has just interrupted the television program we're watching to announce flash-flood warnings across southwestern Los Angeles. We're far from there so no worry for us.

It's cold outside and a breeze has blown all day. The two of us and the pups are huddled in the house with the fireplace warm and toasty. I graded student papers while Mr. Fun exercised the remote control. The pooches chewed bones, pounced on our laps, stepped on the student papers, and occasionally snoozed.

It's been well over an hour since our evening meal. Once the pups finished eating, they all had their trot outside through the backyard, yes, in the rain. I dried them with several large beach towels as they came back in -- they love that as they roll in the warm towels and make it into a game. Then they are all revved-up. The pooches always get rowdy after eating; now they have finally settled (whew!). Their quiet sleeping is so peaceful.

Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun, and Chloe, Mitzi, & Max), aka Carol
