Thistle Down

By Ethel

Love Flowers

Down along the street,
They strolled upon the hour.
Tenderly holding in their hands,
A lovely potted flower.

"This is for you", they said,
It has a brilliant hue.
We waited till it had the bloom,
And now...we come to you.

It has the deepest meaning,
With petals softly styled.
To see...just how it opened,
Each day we watched...and smiled.

It has no flaws to mar it,
It does the vision bless.
Within the opening of the eye,
It stands in perfectness.

So gently in my hands...I held,
And from the glow above.
The twinkle in their eyes...told me,
It was a flower of love.
