Thistle Down

By Ethel

Today

Facts are...today,
You lady or gent.
This floundering world,
Is in a dent.

Things go wrong,
So crookedly bent.
Debts of our nation,
Are down to the cent.

We yearn so often,
To live in a tent.
Because our living,
Leaves none for rent.

Life is a bubble,
Of dis-content.
These problems erupt,
Our courage is spent.

But come what may,
Be it heaven-sent.
We will live and say,
The time is far-spent.
