Today's the day ....................... to leave the Big Apple

Flying back to Blighty today and we're sorry to go. We've really enjoyed our few days in New York - it's been quite different from what we were expecting. We thought it would be a massive conurbation of endless skyscrapers and probably noisy, dirty, unfriendly and scary. In fact it has been none of them.

Everyone we have met has been very friendly, interested in us and where we come from and very helpful at answering our many questions. We are overwhelmed at the amount of food available everywhere - most of it freshly made, appetising and not too expensive.

New York is an exciting vibrant city where there is something going on every minute of the day and night. Because most of it is on the Manhattan peninsula, it feels contained and identifiable - more like a big village than a city.

I'm sure we'll be back for more ...............
