Sand Blasted

A westerly flow of sand and sky at Belhaven, East Lothian. The flat, sharp winds we have here regularly have stayed for the last few days making me think about the constant flow of life and the vast space the winds of the world flow into and around.

Taking these pictures was an uncomfortable pleasure. I saw from the School hill yesterday that the sand was flowing and decided that I'd try to get a shot of it. For that you need strong wind and a low tide. So, I set off about 4.30pm with the children due home at 5.30pm. Not much time.

Also, the sand is really blasting across the beach and the chances of blowing sand into my precious camera are high!

Then there's the angle. I've learned the hard way that the lower you are the worse it is. I once walked across the beach with little children in these conditions - bad idea. Their eye level is right about the sand level, it's very unpleasant.

All in all then, I'm pleased with this one. The sand flows like the surface of a river and accentuates the dramatic sky. Yes, that's my day.

Music: I think I linked to this before, but I am obsessed with Boy With a Coin by Iron and Wine. Just fabulous in every way. Go listen and watch.
