Never in my wildest dreams.......

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be enjoying a TWO HOUR pedicure today. I mean really. No idea at all.

What I did know was that I would be enjoying a delicious brunch with a group of girls celebrating our friend's soon-to-be baby girl. That part I did know about.

But what I didn't know, was that I'd be making 'a new best friend'. That is what my new friend and I joked about as we parted from lunch. I didn't know anyone else at the brunch other than my good friend, her sister, her Mom and her Mother-in-law. So I took a seat at the end. Sitting next to me was another pregnant girl. About 8 months along. We started chatting a bit and somehow, her being a teacher came up in conversation. So I asked her what she taught and she said Kindergarten. Okay now, things just got a bit more interesting, I taught Kindergarten. So I asked her where she teaches. "Are you kidding me???" I said to her response.....the same district that I taught in. When I told her which school I taught at she said, "Are you kidding me????, I taught there too". "WHAT???? You have got to be kidding me". I swear the conversation was like this for over five minutes.

Long story short, when I left my position at my school, she was one of the teachers hired in. What are the odds that of any person in the whole metropolitan area in which we live, what are the odds that we both taught the same grade at the same school just a few years apart?!!! I did not know this. And she did not know this. And my really good pregnant friend most certainly did not know this. And then we got on the topic of our kids. Almost the same age as mine. Boy older and girl younger. We talked about pregnancies. Both suffered severe morning sickness. I almost looked around to see if I was on a hidden prank show. Something entitled, "Let's get two people to think that they lead parallel lives". Crazy. But so so cool. And I know that we will become friends because her husband is best high school friends with my friend's husband. And my husband and my friend's husband are really close. So it's a win win and a meant to be for sure. I know I am going on and on but seriously, it was kind of a trip. And anyone that knows me knows that I love moments like these. I love quick and easy and meaningful connections. Because in my opinion, you know on the first meet if you can / are going to be good friends with someone or not.

So, after brunch the good just continued to get better. My friend invited me to go get pedicures with her family. Aaah, I was going to be one of the family for the afternoon. Another special something that I like to be a part of. We stopped for a coffee at a cool little spot. It's the spot that my friend and I had coffee with Occhi Verdi when she was in town. So I took a photo of the sign with my prego friend posing in front and sent off a quick text to her. I knew she'd like that. Then we walked inside and the owner (who O.Verdi introduced us to last time) was there, so minutes later I was taking his picture and sending it off to the Occhi Verdi. I will tell you this. These are the moments that I love. Life is all about connections and today has been full of them.

We took our coffees to go and headed out towards the pedicure shop. My first time there. We were met with huge massaging chairs. And a lot of them. So the five of us lined up all in a row. Our pedicure ladies were so nice and it was so exciting being there. Such a pleasant surprise. My girl worked harder on my feet than anyone else has in my whole life (sorry Mom, this girl had you beat). And my feet are smoother and softer than they have probably ever been. What we thought was going to be a half an hour pedicure went on to last two hours. TWO HOURS! We are talking hot rocks, and sugar scrubs. Hot wax with our feet in baggies. Polish. Our nails done for an extra five dollars. I tipped my girl really well. She deserved a reward as well. A medal. I asked her to write down her name on a card so that I could keep it in my purse always. I don't get pedicures very often. But if I ever do, I am going to this place and requesting my girl.

To wrap this up, I think I've pretty much made it clear that today was a beautiful day with beautiful friendships and beautiful toes. Thanks! Thanks and THANKS!!!

I back blipped two others here.
