Violets

Today's the day ........................... to get the settings right

It's been a busy day today. Actually that's not true - it hasn't been that busy - it's more that I lost the power of decision-making early on and so everything has taken much longer to do than it should have.

So it got to nearly seven oclock and I suddenly realised that I hadn't taken any pictures at all today. I had nothing whatsoever to blip. Nothing for it - it would have to be a garden blip - but in the dim light, at the end of a day when it had poured down with rain for most of it.

I took a picture of these violets, which completely take over our back garden at this time of the year. I should have listened to my cousin Bob, from whose garden I took the original cutting. "You'll regret that", he said. "They'll spread everywhere."

I've taken loads of pictures of them - but they always look out of focus and bleached of colour. For some completely unknown reason (to me at least) this one looks ok.
