Play Ball!!!!
Yahoo!!! Victoria's playing! She had her first time up at bat today and smacked that ball hard! She ran as fast as she could - trying to run her fastest since not running for the past 5 months! - to first base! The other team fumbled the ball a little and she made with time to spare! In November, she injured her foot in soccer practice (the same foot she broke in July but other side). It's taken way to long for it to heal. We signed her up for softball, thinking she'd be ready to play - not! It's been so hard to sit in the dugout just to cheer the team on and not be able to participate. So today she her foot felt good enough to try it. Two other girls have gotten hurt in the past week, so they really needed her. One of the coaches told me how impressed he was that she got a hit on her first up at bat. Can't wait to see how she does with more confidence! Her team won 8-5! I think they might be in first place now!
I was jumping from one field to the other like a ping pong ball! Katrina was playing at the same time on the next field. And of course I had to take pictures of both of them - constantly. Once, they were both up to bat at the same time!! What are the odds?? Gotta tell ya, I had to pick Victoria, since it was her first game. But at least since they had a runner for her I could go back to Katrina right away.
Katrina did a fine job as well!! She was the only one who got a hit off the pitcher! Lots of them either got 4 balls and walked or had to have the coach pitch since the bases were loaded. (yeah, yeah, whatever the rules are) She had 2 runs today too! Her team won 10-1! It's only their second win so far. Fun to see them improving.
So just when I was soooo looking forward to staying home for the rest of the day with NO plans.....those three kids (and one loaner) decided it would be a lovely day to go to the park and catch crawdads. Had to gather all the 'fishing' gear, the dog, the snacks.....get me some iced tea, please.....and headed to the park for a couple of hours.
When we made it home (early since they were not listening to Mom!) there were more playdates to be had.
Thankfully, Hubby is on his way home. He is just bushed. The tax deadline is breathing down his neck.
Is it bedtime yet???
