Strreettccchhhhhh!!!

These huge pelicans were preening themselves with the cormants (?) and an occasional seagull landing cautiously by. This one really surprised me when he stretched out his beak! It's not my favorite picture of the day, but how often am I going to catch a pelican stretching? so here ya go.


We had a wonderful day at the beach. And we have the sunburn to prove it! It was overcast most of the time. Plenty warm! With a nice breeze! It was low tide, so the rocky shoreline was easy to jump from rock to rock. There was a shallow creek that flowed into the ocean. The kids loved playing in it. There were tadpoles! They found sea snails, urchins, sand crabs, and hermit crabs. Didn't see any starfish like we did last time. They begged to go back to the beach soon.

So funny: Katrina, the 6 yr old, kept saying "When are we going to the tadpoles?" all morning! I had to tell her "We are going to the tidepools!There aren't any tadpoles there!" And then they found tadpoles!!! Tons of them!

We finally left at 4:30. All the kids fell asleep on the 30 minute ride home. We stopped by the store for hotdogs & buns. Daddy came home "early" at 7:00! They haven't seen him for 2 days! It was nice for them to eat dinner together and have some cuddle time in front of the fireplace.
