A Glimpse of Spring

Today we had our first real glimpse of Spring. A warm Spring. The kind of day where the sun fills the sky and gets everyone outdoors in t shirts and shorts. A nice little glimpse. Giving us all hope for warm days to come. It has been a long and wet winter here. This sunny day was greatly appreciated city wide.

We started this gorgeous day with an Easter Egg Hunt. A local church was offering a huge outdoor Easter Egg Hunt and a presentation with an Illusionist. The magic show was a hit with the kids. And it was cute seeing them look at one another saying, "Wow, how did he do that?!!!". We met our good friends there and had another little friend there with us. The kids raced around gathering eggs. Last year my son had time to snag a couple of eggs and our daughter just one. Today their baskets were full and they enjoyed popping each egg open to see what kind of candy was inside. Our daughter used her fluffy ducky Easter Egg basket and the two boys used Football Helmets (a last minute decision so that one of them did not end up with the frilly pink basket). The Helmets were a hit.

After the egg hunt, we all sat around a big table at the coffee shop and our good friend played the part of the magician for a while. His tricks were even tricking me. The kids were loving the entertainment. I think that he got more 'oooh's and aaaah's' than the actual magician from earlier in the day. Next we were off to our nephew's birthday party. 'Owls' was the theme. We met at a really pretty National Park and we all had a guided hike tour through the woods looking for owls and other interesting birds. And it was so warm out! It felt wonderful spending so much time outside today. And the party was fun for the kids. They even dissected owl pellet thingy's. The fur ball stuff that the owls cough up. It was quite fascinating really. And then we went on to spend the rest of the evening with the cousins watching them open their presents. The kids made up an Owl Play in the yard and we got both renditions on video. I love how much those four kids absolutely adore one another.

A glimpse of Spring......rain expected for tomorrow. The Easter Bunny better pack his umbrella.
