Our Easter Sunday
Our Easter Sunday. The kids woke up early this morning with the Easter Bunny on their mind. Since my husband had to work today, we decided that it would be really cute to leave a note from the Easter Bunny saying that their baskets were delivered at the Station. So my husband left the note early this morning before he left.
When we came downstairs looking for traces of the Easter Bunny, there it was. The note was taped to the ceiling. The kids went crazy with excitement. It was probably the coolest place that he could have thought to leave it. They thought it was so funny. And couldn't wait to go and visit their Daddy after church.
Our church service was packed this morning. I expected it to be and it was nice seeing so many people fill the pews. Our paster delivered a strong message along with his usual light banter and humor. And then he asked the congregation if there was anyone who would like to be baptized today. A woman stepped forward and it was a very touching moment. I could tell that the paster was getting teary eyed and I just felt so happy for this woman. Three of her friends joined her up front and she rededicated herself to Christ. As she walked down the isle exiting the service I whispered 'congratulation's' to her. I could tell by her smile that today was a day that made a huge impact on her. I remember feeling the same way when I made the decision to get baptized in front of my church when I was thirteen years old. The moment was powerful today and I was so pleased to be able to witness the love felt amongst the congregation.
After church we headed to the station. While in the car, my son was telling us about his Sunday School class. "I really got sucked into the music today Mom (usually he just stands not singing). They played the most awesomest songs today because it was Easter". I asked him if he did any singing this time and he said, "Yeah Mom, we did these cool movements to the songs and I did them. And I sang too". Wow. He just jumped leaps and bounds today. And they both made some adorable artwork today as well. I really do love this Church.
At the Station, the kids had to find their baskets. They walked everywhere and finally found them in the workout room. They couldn't believe their eyes. Easter Baskets in the work out room??? How funny!!! Our daughter loved her Hello Kitty Bubble Machine and our son 'wooohooo'd' when he saw his super soaker. Another family arrived shortly after and our kids had fun playing with the other little boy while we all had a chance to sit around the big table and talk. It was very special celebrating the 'Easter Bunny' side of Easter there at the Station. We have to get creative sometimes on the holidays and we both feel that it doesn't matter where or when something is celebrated, only that we are all there celebrating together.
From the Station we headed out to our good friend's parents house. They invited the kids and I over for dinner. It was so thoughtful of them and when we arrived, we were greeted with such a warm welcome as always. I thanked them for including us in their family time and they both said to me, "Well of course, you are family!!!" And they do feel like family and we are so blessed to have such a wonderful group of close family friends in our life. The kids all got special little treats and they even had a chance to play briefly at the neighboring park until the showers started up again. This is the second time that we have joined them for an Easter dinner over the years and again, they just made us feel like we are right at home.
Our Easter Day was filled with lots of good memories and we were surrounded by love. A very special day for each of us.
