Chestnut candles

... in the local park.

I love to see these flowers each year on chestnut trees in towns and in the country. They are just about at their peak now, but last such a short time.

First, we look for the sticky buds, then the first delicate leaves, these candles; and then come conkers and the falling of the leaves in autumn. I fear, that as I get older, these steps seem to follow one another more and more rapidly.

So the message is to enjoy what each season has to bring to the full.
