two black eyes

Someone has stolen the summer today. I was getting rather used wearing shorts and taking pictures of beaches that looked like they were in the tropics but today its winter again.

So instead I had a walk around the farm to where there are some young calves. They always look cute and the long eyelashes on this one are great.

Normally a lot of the males would have been sold already as its a dairy farm but unfortunately they have had 2 cases of TB so are now under movement restrictions for at least 6 months. The heard is about 300 adults so its not a major issue but the restrictions make life, well, a bit of a cow for the farmer !

With the farm being 400 acres and including multiple badger sets, this low level of TB seems to be becoming a regular problem at the moment. Lets hope the national trusts badger Vaccination trials are a success.
