...The Boys are back.....

Today was a day for paying back a favour.

Our Angling club was one of the first in the country to achieve Clubmark, a national award for having a properly run, child friendly, safe club. Since we got the award two years ago several of the local clubs have visited to see how we run our coaching sessions etc and they have gone on to set up similar things in their own clubs. When this happens courtesy dictates that we give them about 5 complimentary membership cards so their members can fish our waters and they reciprocate.

The guys from Heywood took this one step further when half a dozen of them turned up at our recent EGM to ensure that we won the vote on who runs the club. Today they were receiving their Clubmark Award and we were all invited. They were having an Open Day, but after all the fantastic weather we've had for the last week today was warm but very rainy, so attendance was low. We arrived, inspected the facilities, met the Mayor and the Press and did all the formalities....and we were just about to depart, when Jimmy (second left in the photo) said "Of course you boys are coming over for the buffet?"

How could we refuse..........trouble was they'd catered for about 50/60, but only about 15 turned up..........we had to smile and plough our way through sandwiches, samosas, bhajiis, spring rolls, pies, cheese, salad, coleslaw, pizza, chicken legs, quiche, pasta salad, rice salad, crisps, sausage rolls, cream cake, cheese cake and warm beer!.............and then they brought round second helpings!!!

So the normal three hour Saturday morning getting the bait etc for Sunday's fishing turned into over five hours of pressing the flesh, meeting and greeting and stuffing our faces.

And now the Daughter is making a huge lasagna for dinner..................
don't think I'll need much breakfast in the morning.

And we still haven't decided where to go fishing tomorrow!
