Rock Garden

Central to the landscape of Bend is lava rock. We are surrounded by volcanic mountains and volcanic flows, so there is lots of volcanic rock. Depending on one's outlook, it can be a bane or a friend. If a basement is in your views, it is definitely a bane. If a rock garden is amongst your wishes, you are in luck!

This rock garden has just burst. The phlox were brilliant. The plantings by this gardener were varied and well done. I wish I was a better photographer so I could have gotten the full effect of this rock garden--it is a feast to the eyes.
