A day in the slow lane

Monday, for various reasons, needed to be a day of relaxation.

I took Seb and Michaela (who had arrived in Edinburgh on Saturday evening) to Traquair House, to experience some of the historic high-life of Scotland.

We toured the house, got lost in the labyrinth, sampled the ales from the private brewery and the cakes from the bakery, and laid out on the lawn to soak up the sun.

They say there was a period in time when the Laird was confined to his grounds for reasons of political allegance. I can think of worse places to have to stay...
