The Wandering Minstrel

People's Park

I'm sure there have been discussions about the Chinese use of the word Renmin (meaning People). However, what is true in this use of it, is that in Renmin Park, people are using it. Socialising (talking for friends, looking for love, or enjoying it), playing cards, trying to shine foreigners' shoes for £10, taking the child for a walk, etc.

And here, in the heart of Shanghai, at the end of one of the main shopping streets, is Renmin Square, a beautiful green space with tower blocks on three sides, including Asia's first "skyrise".
