The Pantry's Empty.
I was just thinking that we don't hear the word 'pantry' so often these days.
I hope this doesn't make me sound older than I really am :-/
I didn't much like our pantry at home. It had old soda syphons at the back.
And spiders. And had a damp kind of aura. And a tiny window that wouldn't properly close.
But I recall, more pleasantly, the wonderful fragrance of jelly, in little waxed dishes, placed in there to set, at party times. They took so loooong.
(PLEASE don't put bits of fruit in mine. Or, worse still, cake crumbs! Ugh.)
Don't you just associate the smell of jelly with balloons? (It might just be me).
Anyway, the pantry that's empty is my garden.
The hungry birds and babies have eaten ALL the bugs and insects and flies.
There's nothing left! Zilch. Nil. Zero.
(And I examined enough bushes to emerge with lots of sticks in my hair).
But there was this busy bee. Is it a cuckoo bumblebee??? (Hands up all who knew there even was such a thing?)
I don't know... It doesn't appear to have any pollen about it, but I don't think it's male because it's got elbows in its antennae.
(Hands up all those who... Oh, never mind).
Sometimes the internet is just too beguiling!!!
