Understated Success
RDA - Riding for the Disabled is a Sports Scotland sponsored intiative. It also has to rely heavily on sponsorship and big fund raising. The volunteers are THE most special people. They dedicate hours to the personal development of some of our most vulnerable pupils.
Along with art therapy, drama, mentoring, coaching and just plain good listening - RDA proved a most fantastic resource for some of our children who have an additional need.
This includes exteme behaviour. My wee pal here is such a star. He has experienced a life already and is only 9. He has been through more than most us would experience in a lifetime - and most of would be lucky enough to not know anything about his experiences.
He sits on a 17.5 hands horse: no saddle. TRUST and self confidence allow him to ride bareback while he kneels, arms at right angles to his body. He turns on the horse's back. rides backwards and is learning to stand up - no support.
Please support your local RDA at fund raisers!
