Cookbooks
As I opened my "cookbook" cupboard to grab some misc items I often cram in there and then walked past this shelf piled with more of my cookbooks this morning I suddenly longed for a nice sit down meal together as a family. I love my cookbooks ( and Internet recipe websites ) but lately with sports making our lives so hectic it feels it's been ages since I tried something new for dinner and we all were able to sit down at the table together. Sports are great so don't get me wrong but between two kids having practices and/or games every night of the week it sure is killing my creative dinner menus and sit down at the table family time.
Many of my cookbooks I've had for years and my mother in law has bought for me while they travel around the States. My all time favorite cook books aren't even books, they are magazines. For the past 12 years or more my mother in law has subscribed ( as my birthday gift ) to Taste of Home cooking magazine for me. They are simple, realistic meal recipes but when that magazine arrives in the mail I'm always excited. I'm not one to sit down with a good book and read too often but you give me a cookbook or cooking magazine and you've caught my attention!
So we roughly have about two months left of baseball practices and games....maybe then I can go through my cookbooks, make a nice meal and all sit down together as a family to enjoy it ;)
