SPOTTED SANDPIPER

A rather poor digiscoped photograph of the Spotted Sandpiper which has arrived at Brockholes Nature Reserve. I had a better photo of a male Reed Bunting, singing away perched on a reed, but as the Sandpiper is a "very rare visitor from North America" he won the day. I know it's been windy recently but that's a long way to fly!

Although Brockholes has been a great birding site for a long time, the new nature reserve only opened at Easter. At the moment the paths are extremely muddy, or covered in very sticky orange sand, but you can see it is going to be a wonderful place for wildlife.
