Hope It's Chips, It's Chips

We are continuing our diet of soup, porridge, pasta, other such soft delights, and painkillers, on account of my girls sore teeth.

Tonight it's that Scottish classic stovies. I find OXO a comforting brand. It hasn't changed it's image much in all it's years. It wasn't like bisto or Homepride, it didn't engage little cartoon characters to help in it's advertising. It just produced a warm beefy flavour year in year out.

Stovies is often a subject which prompts debate. For me it is potatoes, onion, cornbeef, oxo and gravy salts. I know there are many variations - are you a sausage fan or perhaps you don't allow oxo near yours? I did try making an extra special batch one new year with prime beef running through it. It was delicious, just not stovies,

Stovies, brown sauce and bread and butter. There can be no finer food. Well, I say that, but then could say that about any food. Perhaps it's because it provokes childhood memories, Aaaah - oh no, that's Bisto!
