Growing on the Lava Rock

Today I visited a dear friend who has a lovely lava rock garden. As we looked at her flowers, I was struck by this blue Forget-Me-Not that was growing out of the lava rock. How do they do that??? i just love the persistence of plants.

Today was the first day I didn't have to wear a jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt of any kind! Maybe summer really will come!
