Firewood Banksia

The Menzies or Firewood Banksia (Family - Proteaceae) grow abundantly around the bushland fronting the house. These ones are commonly found brightening up winter days with their beautiful large cone shaped flowers.

This particular variety is widely used in the cut flower industry both within Australia and around the world. Tomorrow, I will see a few of them in a nice tall vase in my new home.
