Community Servanthood
It did my heart good. Yet I was broken hearted at the same time.
Through our work we had a community service project to clean up the San Diego River. There are many homeless camps in the river bed. It was estimated that we pulled up over 4000 lbs of clothes, shopping carts, shoes, drug paraphernalia, tool boxes, coolers, Deftone picture LP, tires, bicycle parts, broken chairs, wrappers, butts, a bag of skeleton bones (Halloween type, not real), knives, baseballs, baseball bats, pennies, a St Christopher, a cane with an American flag on it, and the list goes on and on.
It feels good to give back, I am so amazingly blessed!!!
The black & white is of a woman who is mentally ill, she was yelling at us, then helping us, then complaining about the government, then showing us her stomach and 'parts'. At one point she was holding a big knife, but she was asked to put it in the box, she finally did. When she was distracted, I put it in my bag, and hauled it out. She then sat with some friends and a dog. She was clearly tormented. It makes me sad. :'[ So many hurting people out there. God, calm her spirit today, give her hope.
