Day 8 - Picos tour Pt 2. Canga - Lagos - Llanes
Late meal last night, then a wander around the busy streets before retiring to bed. Lights out at 11.30 pm, and five minutes later the band started up - loud! Turns out that this is the Fiesta of the local saint San Antonio - so the local latin / rock heroes are playing on an open stage about 150 yards from our hotel! Mind you they were very good, so I didn't mind too much losing a couple of hours sleep.
Woke this morning to sun and a distinct rise in temperature, and had another short wander around Cangas before driving up to the Lago Nol and Lago de la Ercina, two small lakes nestling in the high Picos. This involved more vertiginous mountain roads, this time complicated by cows on the road. Had great fun avoiding the cows and the huge drop into the valley :)
We followed this up with a drive to the coast and a visit to Llanes, a port just beginning to acquire the trappings of civilised tourism - ie cafes and restaurants, where we finally had a proper Spanish lunch - three huge courses, bread rolls, water, and a litre of wine, all for ten Euros each! Llanes also has a totally unspoiled medieval centre, so plenty of blipping there, including this one.
Two amazing days away, and now back at our cosy and very civilised tent.
