Three Grumpy Old Men!

Today was Pentecost and also Milly Summer's blessing at our church. Milly is the granddaughter of our good friends and Chris, my husband, is official Grumpa!

We have a 'Pick and Mix' service at this time in the month which is aimed primarily at children with lots of activities for the middle part of the service to suit all needs and ages,

Here is Chris with his friends letting it all go on around them. There is a 10 year age range between them but they are so alike and the title 'Grumpy Old Men' suits them very well. Roger at the back is Milly Summer's real Grandpa, and Joe is the fount of all knowledge for our village. (A real Hardener!!)

One activity was to ice buns (cup cakes) and put a candle in them. these were then all lit at the end of the service and blown out by the children. They were everlasting candles so immediately re-lit, to the children's astonishment, to represent the everlasting flames and holy spirit that came at Pentecost.

It was a lovely event but unfortunately the weather didn't live up to Milly Summer's middle name.
