King of the fishers
Have been out today with the Lancs Wildlife Trust Conservation team to visit 3 sites in the Ribble Valley. They are an eclectic bunch ranging from Marine specialists to botanists to practical conservationists. I went along to try to encourage a few more biodiversity projects into the Fund I manage.
With such a wealth of knowledge there is the inevitable distraction and debate over some odd looking moss or bit of green stuff. Much debate raged about a stand of marsh orchid and whether they were hybrids or not. All good stuff but I just marveled in the beauty and colour. Part of our visit took us to Crosshill Quarry LNR but the River Ribble. There is a brilliant sculpture trail with some surprising pieces including this majestic Kingfisher which is made from bit of metal junk.
Have been watching the leaden skies all evening for a glimpse of the lunar eclipse ready for that chink in the mirk camera poised. No such luck enough to drive you mad (lunatic).
