First Day of Summer

And what a day it was! How often in Oregon on the first day of Summer are you blessed with blue skies, sunshine and what we would consider a heatwave (being 80+ degrees). I'll tell you NOT very often. It was absolutely gorgeous today!

I spent the day in the yard with the boys spreading barkdust, planting shrubs and weeding. To most it may sound like torture but I enjoy it. I feel fullfilled after a day of working in the yard, especially when we can do it as a family.

I couldn't get enough of the sunshine today and it seemed as I looked around me everything suddenly seemed even more beautiful than it was before. It's amazing what a little sunshine can do for you.

While spreading barkdust I couldn't help but keep admiring how our white Dogwood Tree looked with it's green leaves up against the bright blue sky. I also loved how the white flowers on it seemed to be reaching to absorb as much sun as possible. Looks like everyone and everything enjoyed the First Day of Summer around here.
