hannaheno's daily lives

By hannaheno

Complicated

Our shed door seems to have so many parts. Bits of wood added on, bits of wood falling off. Buckling, peeling, rusting, warped. This door has seen many lives here, none of whom have cared enough to fix it, and now it's beyond help. The handle's too close to the door frame, meaning you nearly always trap your fingers in it when pulling the door shut. Inside the floor is uneven, fragmented brick and there is an old drain where a toilet once was in days gone by. There are cobwebs dating back to first life, and old, painted up cans of emulsion showing what colours were once used inside the house. The plastic corrugated roof is covered in moss and creaks and groans in the shifting heat.

But still, it's a good old shed.
