Commedia dell'Arte

C and I went to the Farmers' Market again this morning. It was a beautiful sunny day and the market was crowded.

Western Washington University Theatre Arts presented excerpts from their production of "Commedia in the Park". The play, loosely based on Moliere's "The Bourgeois Gentlemen", is in the Commedia dell'Arte style and will be performed at several parks throughout Whatcom County in August.

It was the first time I'd seen this style and it reminded me of a traditional English Punch and Judy show. When I Googled Punch and Judy I found that it has roots in Commedia dell'Arte.
