Independence Day in America
The end of a 3-day holiday weekend has arrived and it has been an enjoyable weekend. It's been a quiet holiday and I think the temps cooled slightly from the past couple of days.
I lined the back fence with little American flags; then I zoomed-in as far as the camera would go and the view of the other side of our community was better than I had expected. I rather like it.
We enjoyed a delicous barbeque of chicken, steak, and grilled veggies. Then we floated in the pool and sat in the spa and listen to firecrackers in our neighborhood and also heard the louder but more distance booms from across town at Santana Park where the community "4th of July Celebration" was held. We were both surprised that all three of the pups did not seem bothered by the firecracker noise and there were some pretty loud ones exploded here in our neighborhood even though they are illegal here.
I am grateful for the privilege of living in a nation that provides so many freedoms. I'm very aware that many Americans have given the highest sacrifice, their lives, so that America can be a free nation. Thank YOU to everyone who has ever served our nation and those who are currently serving.
Tomorrow I head back to the campus to work in the Writing Center for seven afternoons from 1:00-6:00 Tuesday-Thursday this week and next is Monday-Thursday. The hours used to be 8:00-5:30, but the reduced budget and money crunch has caused a significant reduction in classes and also in the hours of operation of the Writing Center.
Good night from Southern California.
