Quiet Blipper

Blustery Day

Wow. What a difference after yesterday. We left Lynwood Marina and motored out of Burrard Inlet into Vancouver Harbour. The swells were horrendous. Wind against tide and waves left over from a windy night. Not enough wind to sail or even steady the boat. We rounded Point Atkinson and raised the head sail and had a stable down wind run into Howe Sound with 10 knots of wind. Whew!

Squalls kept coming through bringing rain with them. Around 3PM we anchored in Port Graves on Gambier Island. Enough of the rain and lumpy seas. The wind had moderated again by this time to about 5 knots.

This blip was taken just after we furled the headsail and headed for the anchorage. In the distance is a trace of the Langdale Ferry. The Salish Sea is in the far distance. Visibility bad but the clouds were magnificent. Love the deepening grey, stormy skies and the contrast with the red and yellow of our kayak on deck. As luck would have it I was supposed to stay out of the sun today as a result of some photo dynamic (cold laser) treatment i had yesterday for my right eye. Couldn't have wished for a better day. Would have been very tough otherwise. '-)

A quiet afternoon and a lovely anchorage for tonight.
