Crown green bowls - not just a smiley face!

Like so many people, I thought that crown green bowling was a genteel, rather sedate and elderly sport. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I was taken along this afternoon to a local match and the bad language, aggression and temper would not have been out of place at an Old Firm game.

The players were not all in their twilight years either - and it was deathly serious.

Mind you, a pleasant afternoon in the sunshine was lovely - and I am broad minded - just surprised.

and the kids found their own amusement too
