Ginger Shapes

I thought that this display of ginger in bulk included a good variety of weird shapes, and that it might make an unusual Blip.

The superstore where this picture was taken is on the approach to Southall. Lady Scharwenka and I were on our way to a Prom at the Albert Hall. ViolaMaths had very kindly given us her tickets when she found that she could not go. She missed an excellent concert, which culminated with the full ballet version of Stravinsky's The Firebird. There was some excellent playing, and high-power sound from the assembled brass, bass drums and multiple other percussion instruments and the like.

We have often shopped for Asian food in the past at a branch of this store that is in the heart of Southall (South Road). In fact, it was ViolaMaths who first introduced me to it (and to Southall in general). That South Road store is big enough in itself. But the recently opened branch that we visited, just outside the main part of Southall (Uxbridge Road), is enormous! Perhaps this photograph will give an idea of the size of the place: and this is about half the total length.

Here are a few more photographs to show what the place is like:

The fruit and vegetable section;

A different view of the section;

And another;

Garlic;

Turmeric, before it's ground;

General view of the main food section;

Several varieties of ground chilli in 5 kg sacks;

Mango chutney by the 20 (TWENTY!) kg;

Much rice, in many varieties;

and finally, outside the store,
A man selling boxes of succulent, delicious, honey mango! We bought three boxes...

This entry is beginning to sound like advertising, which is why I have not given the establishment's name. I had better stop!
