Useless Object 1
These withes have sat in my garden for over a year now, wrapped up nicely with their straw tie. They were to be woven into an edging fence, or used to tie up beans or to tie in fruit trees. Once I even planned to make a series of different sized oblisks to adorn various parts of the garden.
Yet, the more the light caught them as they leant gently against the old sandstone, the more I loved their very being. I couldn't bring myself to separate them and destroy the shine of copper than comes from them, enhanced in the late evening light.
Each day the weather changes them. Today they have been battered by the rain and raindrop splashes have sent the dirt to enhance their beauty. The straw tie takes it all in it's stride, it knows it is safe and that I won't be untieing them any time soon.
As a complete aside I must record today that whilst strolling through the kitchen department of a store I noticed a set of cake moulds. Two in a box in the most unusual of shapes. The box had a picture of how your cake could look - one of each design. It lead me to wonder, who would wish a sheep or a rabbit sponge cake?
