Old library
(hmmm, my photos seem terribly uninspired at the moment. And the glare in this is irritating).
Anyway, here is a detail from the tiled corridor of the Old Library. This arch depicts Summer.
It was still a library when I started work in town - I'd left school at 16 but read voraciously so I was a frequent visitor, even if I didn't have much of a clue. Sartre left me a little baffled.
It's now a nifty little museum and gallery. I've been told that Joseph Conrad worked here during a stay in Cardiff, putting the finishing touches to Heart of Darkness. A friend reckons this was probably inspired by a late night visit to Caroline Street, aka Chip Alley. The horror, the horror!
