The Thistle

Thistles

stand as clocks fully struck
in fields of fading flowers?
when the fires of summer come
they will gather up the hours
of rains past, frost endured

and famished stalks in full gale
that begin their telling once
all forms of telling fail

A variation on a common theme...the thistle:)

Rather a long tiring day filled with hours of waiting...for car work to be finished...for prescriptions goofed up...the usual daily grind. A friend's condo being foreclosed and another friend cracked her knee cap. So it seemed a rather thorny day indeed so a thistle it is! And a very sunny hump day here in Seattle too:)t
