Too many tourists for some?
While it looks like some locals have already had too much of the tourists, on this the first weekend of the Fringe, the deserted street is actually close to Murrayfield stadium and the sign is to keep out rugby supporters. Presumably the residents were getting annoyed by people parking in front of their flats whenever there was a game on and managed to get something done about it. Wonder why they have so much clout when other places just have to put up with it Unless it was people loitering in the street, and worse. Worst behaviour we've ever had in our street was apparently well=to-do rugby fans returning to their car and thinking it was perfectly okay to urinate in the street - 'a game for ruffians, played by gentlemen' maybe, but watched by the same range of people, good and bad, as the round ball game. Today we had just the one couple striding purposefully past the house in their rugby tops, and then returning five minutes later when they discovered it wasn't a short cut after all.
Took a break from things Fringey, apart from looking over some of the image backlog from a busy Friday. Bit of food shopping, bit of gardening (well, clipping the unruly front hedge that was long overdue a trim) and then a very pleasant evening of board gaming with friends that we've not seen for far too long. Played a couple of games of Settlers of Catan. The first took rather longer than usual as we reacquainted ourselves with the principles, but the second was much brisker and closer to the idea of the 'German games' - a quick hour or so, and an antidote to a marathon game of Monopoly. Hopefully won't be too long until we play again.
