...I've been driving in my car.......

Right up to the moment the clutch gave way!

Woke up at 7.00 at Dad's, went and got his newspaper, made breakfast, had a chat, made sure he had everything he needed, left at 11.00 to drive home. Another sunny day so again decided to come home "over the tops".

About 40 miles into the journey, the car started behaving funny, not pulling properly, revs climbing all the time..........and then I changed gear and the clutch gave out. Had to stop half way up a long slope on the A59.

Did I have the number for the RAC? Did I buggery!

Phoned the Boss. Did she have her phone turned on? Did she buggery!

Tried the daughter. Did she answer? Did she buggery!

So I'm in the middle of nowhere, nearest town about 8 miles away, and then my phone flashed up low battery warning! Time 12.15.

Flash of inspiration.....phoned Young Helen and asked her to drive to our house and get the Boss to phone me.

45 minute later phone rang, asked the Boss to phone the recovery service.

Two members of North Yorkshire constabulary turned up and very nicely pushed me off the road onto the grass verge, hence this blip, and then buggered off.

RAC turned up at 1.50 , looked at the car and told me the clutch had gone!

No shit Sherlock!

Offered to tow me to a garage in Harrogate and get clutch replaced....cost £750 plus VAT. Coughed, spluttered and choked.........and then phoned Shaun....who kindly rang me back and told me to get the car transported back to a garage belonging to a mate of his, near Bolton....car repaired Tuesday or Wednesday...... cost £250 plus VAT.

RAC towed me to a lay-by and buggered off. Time 2.25.

Spent the next hour and 45 minutes in the hot Sun, nothing to drink, nothing to eat, nothing to do. Low loader turned up at 4.10.

Nice young lad transported me to garage in Bolton, Boss picked me up at 6.00. Got home at 7.10! Seven hours after breakdown.

The Boss then announced we needed to go to Asda....and I was paying! Eventually got a drink and something to eat at 8.55, missed the first half of the United v Spurs game, but saw Utd's three goals in the second half.

The Boss has very kindly lent me her car for tomorrow, she and the Daughter are going to car share..........oh and by the way it needs petrol!

Don't want a day like this again any time soon!

Das vidanya moy padruga.

Oh, and I back blipped yesterdays shot!
