Rusholme Ruffians

Today we went to Camelot. Lewis is almost 11 and wanted to go on all the hair-raising rides. I am of an age where I really don't like these hair-raising rides at all but I had to be brave. Rowan, the youngest, was too short for all of the scary rides and Jed was also too short for most of them which narked him because he has no fear at all! So, we started off on the Log Flume...no problem, I can deal with it. I got drenched though but that's the deal I suppose. Next we went on the dodgems...cool, I can cope with them. Onto the Whirlwind, which is something like a waltzer but on a crazy mouse roller coaster....Jed loved it, I coped and Lewis was brave! Out of all the funfair things, I really don't like roller coasters because I can easily imagine the cars flying off the tracks and that's what freaks me out. Still more, Lewis wanted to go on Excalibur 2 which looked terrifying, it spins and dangles you upside down. We got on the ride, got strapped in and Lewis then said: "Oh, I remember how much I don't like this ride now. When you're at the top, you feel like you will fall out". Such good timing, there was no escape. I just kept my eyes shut the whole time. I still have a headache. The other stuff was more tame: the dragon ride, the water slides, more dodgems. It was a good day. We saw the birds of prey display which was amazing. The birds fly centimetres above the heads of the audience and they are mesmerising. Camelot also has knights jousting on horseback. Weather was great too.

Got home and my Dad called around so we told him about the trip to Camelot. He informed us that it had been on the news about a young boy falling from a ride there today. When we watched the local news later, we discovered that a young boy had indeed fallen 80ft from the top of Excalibur 2. I don't have any other information at this time.
