Red Car in the Storm

This is the view (through a screen) from our second floor, at 8:30 a.m., at what proved to be essentially the height of tropical storm Irene (downgraded from a category 1 hurricane as the center was over New York City). It's best viewed BIG, to really see the rain (and 3 more cars behind the red one).

I would estimate the strongest gusts at perhaps 60 mph (100 kph), with strong rain falling. For obvious reasons, I did not want to venture out in search of a possibly more dramatic blip. It has been fascinating to follow reports of the storm on television--especially the radar views (the storm looked like a giant green and yellow crab, with bits of red, crawling up our Atlantic Coast). It was as big as the State of California (according to the NY Times)!

Here is an earlier, closer view at street level--with what must be the same red car.
