The Edge of the Wold

Albion

An early morning blip as I walked down for the train. I think this is the first time I have shown the viaduct properly since work finished strengthening it in July. It's certainly the first time that any part of the Albion has been shown.

After a year of blipping, the patterns of light and bird movements become more apparent. I remember many mornings like this last year, when the light was milky and the colours of the hills and estuary soft and lacking in contrast. Maybe not the ideal conditions for photography, but still tranquil and beautiful to witness. As for the birds, last year I spent many mornings trying to get close to a single heron that would be fishing just off the pier. And one was there again today, and one of the alternative blips has the heron, a curlew and a redshank all feeding together. I chose this one though for the little splash of colour on the pub sign.

The rest of the day was nine hours of train travel with a 4 hour meeting in the middle. I tried to get an earlier train back, but it was the slowest of cross country trains and I ended up on the same connecting train coming into Arnside.

I will leave comments on tonight, but apart from catching up with birthday blips, I won't be commenting. Will catch up tomorrow. Many thanks for the comments and favourtites for last night's.
