Wharariki Beach
Rained in the night, but thank goodness we had a fine day, and Dups and I set off to explore Wharariki Beach. We walked around to the southern end of the beach, where we had a good view of the Rock with a hole through it.
The actions of the waves from the Tasman Sea have produced a landscape of sheer cliff lines, high arches, caves, rock bridges, and massive sand dunes.
There was a lot to see and photograph. The wind was whipping around us and blowing sand, that we had to be very protective of our cameras.
We had about 5 hours in this area, and by the time we left we were very tired.
We have just finished watching the opening of the World Rugby 2011, in Auckland and it looked spectacular. The All Blacks played against Tonga and won.
A great way to finish the day.
