Waiting..

Dexter's new ladybird bug toy waits impatiently. Like the rest of us.

This morning I took him to the specialist surgeon who showed me the ankle break x-ray again, and what he planned to do to fix it. He's going to put in two plates; secured to either side of the bone and fixed at 120 degrees. These will hopefully hold his leg in place whilst it heals. The surgeon will also need to take out bone-marrow from the top of his leg to fill the gap.

It's a complex procedure but he know's what he's doing and remains confident.

Dexter himself looks OK. Almost comfortable in fact, though a little nervous in this strange place. He's meowed timidly a couple of times.

I give him a final pat and tell him he's going to be OK.

It's 1530 when the surgeon phones me.

The operation went tell, and the plates in place. Dexter himself is beginning to come around.
There's a complication though. They did a blood test and Dexter is very anaemic. His RPV score is 10 when it should be 35-50. Normally they perform a blood transfusion when it's below 15..
The plan is to monitor it and if it doesn't rise perform the transfusion on Sunday.

We can see our cat tomorrow and will certainly do that.

Now we just wait, in the knowledge that he's in good hands.
