shipwrecked
Whats missing from this photo ?
MY BOAT is misssing from this photo, thats what.
We were shipwrecked today, actually we werent actually technically shipwrecked in the tradtional dashed against the rocks and sank sort of way. Or in the marooned on a desert island with skimply clad mermaids and bottles of rum sort of way. No, this was much much more budget basic shipwrecking.
To be more precise, today was our maiden voyage on our new boat and it has a few , eh teething problems.
We couldnt get it to start initially, however we realised that the emergency cut out plastic pin wasnt in properly and that it wasnt clicked into neutral correctly
then, the bung wasnt in quite as tightly as it could have been and we took on some water on our first run. Not enought to drown or sink, but enough to wash your socks in.
Dad had taken the controls apart last week as we knew that it needed a new ignition switch and we wanted to see which one to order, but something must have been misaligned when he put it back together. So we were gettting forward but no reverse.
For the brief moments we had it wound up, it got onto the plane quickly and will be a really fun and fast boat....
However in the meantime, it was back to the trailer, bung in properly and a tinker with the control unit.
Back on the water, we were getting both forward and reverse but again something mustnt be aligned in there properly as we were only getting gear above idling, certainly not enough power to take it out the harbour.
So all in all a boat disaster today, however we have discovered that it runs and floats, doesnt leak and it is reasonably fast if we operated it properly and that the control unit is fixed.
We have also discovered that we require a winch.
Special thanks to old bert over the road who helped us recover the good ship lollipop and without whom we may have got very wet.
Also, I would like to point out and make clear that when the coastguard turned up becuase of a mayday mayday mayday call, it had nothing to do with us.
With a bit of luck, dad will have fixed the control unit and have us back on the water next sunday for a second try at sinking.
Harhahaha me harties,
